6 Simple Ways to Motivate Your Employees

Dear Reader,

Everyone likes a bit of encouragement from time to time…and your employees are no different!

Often, work can be challenging or just plain stressful – so a little recognition can go a long way towards keeping your employees engaged and enthusiastic about their job.

And remember, aside from making your workforce happier, employee engagement is also crucial to your bottom line.

Why? Because unhappy, stressed or unmotivated employees are likely to be a lot less productive.

How implementing a reward scheme can improve employee performance

A great way to motivate your employees is by introducing an incentive scheme to reward them when they perform well.

A reward scheme could involve giving employees dinner or movie vouchers, or be as simple as recognising their contribution in a company email or on the office bulletin board.

Read on for 6 more simple ways you can motivate and reward your employees.

6 Simple Ways to Motivate Your Employees

  1. Recognise your employees’ achievements publically – post a flyer on the notice board or send a company-wide email acknowledging their achievements.
  2. Celebrate your employees’ birthdays! Everyone feels good when people wish them a happy birthday, so why not do it in the office?
  3. Be open to the idea of flexible working arrangements. For example, if an employee has parental responsibilities and it would make it easier on them to adjust their hours slightly, consider it.
  4. Make the office a pleasant place to be – decorate workspaces with flowers or artwork. You could even paint walls in bright, cheery colours!
  5. Hold celebratory lunches when a team or individual successfully complete a big task.
  6. Ask employees for any ideas they have for their division, and do your best to implement them. This shows that you have confidence in them and their ability.

Remember, implementing a reward scheme in your workplace can do wonders for improving employee productivity.
