Q
I have an employee who requires heart and lung surgery in the coming weeks. Due to her condition, she is rapidly using her existing sick leave entitlements and will not be able to work until she has recovered.

Is it possible to transfer sick leave from one person to another?

For example, I personally have over 1200 hours of accrued sick leave and would like to donate whatever is needed to help this employee while she cannot work.

A
It is not permissible to transfer leave in this manner. An employer has an obligation to provide leave entitlements to each employee, so your personal leave cannot be lawfully reduced without you using it.

However, it is always open to the employer to grant an employee further leave.
