Case

Healthscope Operations P/L T/A Healthscope v Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (2025)

Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF) and Healthscope Operations P/L (Healthscope) were bargaining for an enterprise agreement to apply to nursing and midwifery employees who work in private hospitals operated by Healthscope in New South Wales.

In the midst of enterprise bargaining negotiations, ANMF planned protected industrial action involving midwives at several Healthscope-operated private hospitals across New South Wales, including Newcastle Private Hospital (NPH). The action was due to begin at 6am on 21 February 2025, with a 24-hour stop work period, followed by a 2-hour stoppage the next day.
