RSPCA Queensland is a registered charity within the animal welfare and rescue industry, which employs around 460 employees who are covered by numerous industrial instruments, including staff enterprise agreements and modern awards.

In 2023, RSPCA Queensland employed new payroll staff who reviewed the payroll system. During the review, they found that RSPCA Queensland was incorrectly applying undertakings and clauses in two of its enterprise agreements, resulting in underpaying employees their overtime and penalty rates, and failing to meet the requirements around minimum engagement. It was also found that clerical workers were being paid, incorrectly, under an award rather than the enterprise agreement and that annual leave entitlements were not met.
