Ahmed v Jazaa Accountants Pty Ltd (2026)

Between February and May 2023, a recent accounting graduate holding a temporary graduate visa worked about 20 hours per week for an accounting firm. During this period, the worker’s tasks included preparing income statements, financial statements, and tax and GST documents for the firm’s clients.

The accounting firm classified the worker during this period as an unpaid trainee before he moved to paid employment with the firm from 1 June 2023.
