Voting on rail agreement approved after Electrical Trades Union's bargaining complaints dismissed

Applications by the Communications, Electrical, Electronic, Energy, Information, Postal, Plumbing and Allied Services Union of Australia; Application by Sydney Trains and NSW Trains (2025)
Sydney Trains, NSW Trains and several unions were undergoing a complex and drawn-out bargaining process over a new multi-enterprise agreement.
The existing enterprise agreement, the Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink Enterprise Agreement 2022, passed its nominal expiry date on 1 May 2024. Bargaining for a replacement began on 31 May 2024, involving multiple unions under the Combined Rail Unions (CRU) banner and some individual representatives.
In February 2025, the Electrical Trades Union (ETU) split from the CRU and began taking its own steps, including applying for bargaining orders against Sydney Trains and NSW Trains, and the Rail, Tram and Bus Union (RTBU).
